Experts in the Lung Nodule Clinic at the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute - Abbott Northwestern Hospital follow evidence-based guidelines to evaluate and monitor patients who have had small nodules found on their CT scans or chest X-rays.

A nurse coordinator guides patient care from the first appointment through ongoing monitoring and treatment. Wherever and whenever a lung nodule is found, our experts offer the most coordinated and efficient care possible.

The Lung Nodule Clinic at the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute - Abbott Northwestern Hospital is a collaboration between Minnesota Lung Center, Minnesota Oncology - Thoracic Surgery and Abbott Northwestern Hospital.

National trial leads to local expertise

We are proud to be the leading enroller of patients in the National Cancer Institute's landmark National Lung Cancer Screening Trial. Results of the trial, which began in 2003 and finished in 2010, show that low-dose CT scans are superior to chest X-rays as a screening tool for lung cancer.

Patients at the Lung Nodule Clinic will benefit from the tremendous evaluation and treatment expertise that our clinicians gained through participation in this trial.
