United Hospital won the 2006 Innovation of the Year in Patient Care Award for large hospitals from the Minnesota Hospital Association. United significantly reduced the number of falls and related injuries among its geriatric psychiatry patients by consistently applying new safety measures and protocols, including a rigorous evaluation process to identify those patients at a greater risk of falling.
United Hospital was selected as the Minnesota Hospital Association's 2006 Best Minnesota Hospital Work Place in the large hospital category. By instituting innovative new retention strategies, including hiring a retention specialist and creating work teams devoted to improving loyalty, United cut its employee turnover rate in half from 2000 to 2006, from 30 percent to 15 percent.
United Hospital earns the U.S. Health and Human Services Organ Donation Medal of Honor. This award is given in conjuntion with tthe Organ Donation Breakthrough Collaborative, whose goal is to reach a national donation rate of 75 percent. United Hospital is being recognized for the "skill and dedication that led to excellent outcomes and brought hope and healing to donor families and transplant recipients." The Medal of Honor is awarded to hospitals with eight or more eligible organ donors of which at least 75 percent become donors in a consecutive 12- or 24-month period. Read more

The Pain Center is accredited by the American Academy of Pain Management. Accreditation signifies that United Pain Center has been surveyed and found to meet published quality standards. These standards, which were developed by recognized leaders in the field of pain management, require meaningful commitment to high levels of quality and concern for the patient as an individual coping with pain.
