Work Injury Program

Sister Kenny Graphic
Our Work Injury Program's multidisciplinary team of professionals provides customized services to help injured workers return to work quickly and safely. The team also works with businesses to create healthy and safe work environments using quality and cost effective services.

Evaluations

Functional Capacity Evaluation
One-day job specific evaluations and two-day comprehensive evaluations are offered.

Two-day extensive evaluations provide a thorough assessment of an individual’s physical capabilities and clearly identify work-related capacities. The results are summarized on the R-33 form and recommendations are included.

Two comprehensive evaluation models are available to meet individual referral needs.

A one-day modified evaluation can be customized as necessary to assess primarily job-specific capacities for clients with specific return to work goals.

Upper Extremity Evaluation
Clients can also be referred for a specialized upper extremity evaluation which measures tolerance for repetitive activities using standardized tests and simulated work activities.

Preplacement Screening
Job simulated, objective measurements determine prospective employees’ physical abilities. These evaluations identify job-related essential criteria for appropriate placement of employees. The results are conveyed to the employer for safe and effective placement.

Client-Centered and Goal-Oriented Treatment

Work Conditioning/Work Hardening
Employees can return to work quickly and safely by following a supervised program of work conditioning or work hardening. Individualized programs include simulated job activities with body mechanics instruction, aerobic conditioning, flexibility and strengthening exercises. Programs are personalized according to each individual’s needs and goals for a safe and successful return to work.

Clients may also attend group education sessions on stress management, relaxation or other health and fitness topics.

Referral sources receive progress reports. The R-33 form and recommendations are provided upon program completion.

On-Site Programs

Job analysis
Our consultants identify and quantify physical demands, environmental concerns and essential job functions in an extensive report. It also includes photographs or videotapes that show job demands and physical requirements.

Possible solutions for preventing future injuries and for modifying employees’ work stations following injuries are identified. Ergonomic modifications can also be assessed, if required.

On-site education programs

Our staff provides customized injury prevention programs for employees and managers focusing on various topics including back injuries, office ergonomics and cumulative trauma disorders. Classes are interactive and include demonstrations and opportunities to practice body mechanics that can be used in the employees’ real-work environments. Follow-up services assess effectiveness and address ongoing needs.
