About Kenny Kids

Kenny Kids (part of the renowned Sister Kenny^® Rehabilitation Institute) is a pediatric rehabilitation program of Mercy Hospital and is located in Coon Rapids, Minn. (see map). At Kenny Kids, our specialized pediatric staff is dedicated to providing personalized treatment for children from birth to adolescence who have medical conditions or syndromes that may interfere with normal development.

The Kenny Kids Pediatric Rehabilitation Program may benefit children who have:

• ADD/ADHD
• apraxia
• arthritis
• autism/pervasive developmental disorders (PDD)
• brachial plexus injury
• brain injury
• cerebral palsy
• chronic illness
• cleft palate
• delay in motor development
• sensory processing disorders
• delay in speech or language development; speech articulation
• feeding and swallowing disorders
• genetic syndromes such as Down syndrome, Fragile X
• hearing loss
• orthopaedic injuries/surgeries
• physical disability
• torticollis

About Our Staff

Our staff consists of occupational and physical therapists and speech-language pathologists who have extensive training in pediatric rehabilitation.

Occupational therapists focus on:

• strength and fine motor coordination such as reaching, grasping and writing
• sensory processing, including sensitivity training to touch, movement and noise
• daily living skills such as feeding and dressing
• cognitive skills, including problem solving, organization, attention span, and following directions
• wheelchair positioning and special equipment needs
