The International Art Show by Artists with Disabilities is a 45-year tradition of which Sister Kenny is very proud. The show, held each spring, is one of only a handful of judged art shows in the country for those with a physical or mental impairment. Sister Kenny's mission is all about helping individuals progress towards their personal best. Our art show is an extension of that -- highlighting the abilities of those who experience physical or mental limitations.
Since 1983, Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Institute has sponsored an annual golf tournament for individuals with disabilities. The tournament is played with divisions
on both the 18-hole regulation and the 9-hole executive courses. Competition is based upon golf handicaps. It is held in August of each year.
Kenny Grad School is an educational program that provides information and support to people in the community with spinal cord injuries or strokes, their friends and families.
Each year, the Sister Kenny Foundation hosts a fundraising event. The 2007 event, the Sounds of Music gala, was held Oct. 6 at the Minneapolis Hilton. The event included cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, and dancing to George Faber and The Icons featuring Debbie Duncan. The Sounds of Music was a black tie gala co-hosted by the Sister Kenny and Abbott Northwestern Hospital Foundations to benefit the Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Institute and Abbott Northwestern’s Institute for Health and Healing.
