Research Administration assists researchers in meeting regulatory obligations in the areas of human subjects protection in research, HIPAA privacy in research, research billing, and the financial management of grants and contracts.

Research Subject Protection Program
The Research Subject Protection Program, through its Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), is charged with reviewing and monitoring all human subjects research that is conducted in Allina facilities or uses Allina patients. The IRBs also serve as Allina's HIPAA Privacy Boards, and in that capacity are charged with reviewing the use of HIPAA regulated Protected Health Information (PHI) for research purposes.

New to Research at Allina?
Your project may require prior approval. All research conducted at an Allina facility must follow applicable policies and procedures. Research must have prior approval from the Institutional Review Board and/or Sponsored Projects Administration. Find out if your project needs IRB and/or SPA approval.
