Phillips Eye Institute Foundation

History

Phillips Eye Institute is a premier specialty hospital for the treatment of eye diseases and disorders. Established at the former Mount Sinai Hospital in 1987, the Minneapolis facility integrates the latest technologies with staff expertise to serve the needs of affiliated ophthalmologists, referring physicians, other eye care professionals and their patients.

The Institute is named for Minnesota philanthropist Jay Phillips, who believed that quality, accessible health care was a fundamental right. Phillips Eye Institute became a stand-alone eye specialty hospital in 1987 and today is a state-of-the-art eye health care facility, just as Phillips and the other founders envisioned, is committed to health care excellence, innovative research and ongoing community engagement.

For over 20 years, Phillips Eye Institute has provided specialty eye care excellence and efficiency that cannot be matched in a general hospital setting.

The Foundation's support enables Phillips Eye Institute to continue to play a vital role in improving the eye health of its surrounding community through outreach, education and service.
