Community Benefit
Giving Back to the Community We also provide financial and in-kind support to improve the health of our community that centers around health, wellness and safety. Together, as neighbors and partners in the community, we work to make our community a healthier place to live. In fact in 2006, Owatonna Hospital gave back more than $4 million to the community in community benefit investments. These include community benefit programs and initiatives that are listed below; unreimbursed costs from Medicare, Medicaid and insurance companies; and uncompensated care, which is care provided without receiving payment (charity care and bad debt). We also work with the Independent School District #761 by subsidizing their athletic training program by providing sports medicine care from our own Center for Rehab & Wellness athletic trainer, T.C. and Jen Lorenzo at athletic events and practices. In addition, we work with area schools offering school group tours and participating as a training site for Owatonna High School’s TOP Team Program—a school-to-work and apprenticeship learning program. Other community support includes financially supporting Mobile Meals. Owatonna Hospital is a committed community partner and actively participates in the following initiatives: Community Giving Campaign, including the United Way of Steele County Heart Safe Communities project National Night Out working with local Law Enforcement On the Move-Walk Across America program Check out the Allina-wide communty benefit and community involvement projects.
