Owatonna Hospital’s Mental Health Unit is a 10-bed secure facility. We offer inpatient
psychiatric treatment for adults with acute mental illness. Our unit provides
a safe environment for patients and families. Although treatment plans are individualized
and length of stay varies, our goal is to help patient’s complete treatment and
return to their daily routines as quickly as possible.
Our professional mental health team includes social workers, registered nurses,
mental health workers, occupational therapists and psychiatrists.
Our Mental Health unit offers a comfortable, therapeutic setting that allows patients
to discover healthy, effective ways of regaining control of their lives while
sharing their experiences with people with similar challenges.
Therapeutic activities include:
One-on-one counseling
Group therapy
Occupational therapy
Personal skill building
Family conferences. Family involvement is encouraged and tailored to the
needs and situation of each patient.
A referral by a physician, therapist, pastor or local hospital emergency room
