The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospital Organizations has introduced a new requirement for hospital participation that was effective January 1, 2006, by which hospitals need to notify the public that when an individual has any concerns about patient care and safety in the hospital that the hospital has not addressed, he or she is encouraged to contact the hospital’s management.
If the concerns cannot be resolved directly with the facility, the individual is to be encouraged by the hospital to contact the Joint Commission.
To express a concern regarding care at the New Ulm Medical Center, patients may call the Quality Management Department at 507-233-1143.
The public may contact the Joint Commission’s Office of Quality Monitoring to report any concerns or register complaints about a JCAHO accredited health care organization by either calling 1-800-994-6610 or e-mailing complaint@jcaho.org
