Find out if you are at risk for sudden cardiac arrest at free community talks

BUFFALO, Minn. 09/04/2008--Don't let sudden cardiac arrest take you by surprise – learn if you are at risk during free presentations with a Buffalo Hospital heart specialist:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 7 to 8 p.m., at St. Michael-Albertville Senior High School
  • Monday, Sept. 29 from 7 to 8 pm., at the Annandale Senior Dining Center at City Hall

Join us for a free talk about sudden cardiac arrest, how it's different from a heart attack, who is most at risk and how to protect yourself and your loved ones. Learn about portable defibrillators and where they are located throughout Wright County. Come early (6:30 p.m.) for a free blood pressure check.

What is sudden cardiac arrest?

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), also known as sudden cardiac death, is when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. Ninety-five percent of people who experience sudden cardiac arrest die from it, most within minutes. SCA occurs most often in adults in their mid-thirties to mid-forties.
