Pam Schultz, RN, passes national certification in infection controlOWATONNA, Minn. 03/13/2008--Pam Schultz, RN, CIC, infection, prevention and control practitioner at Owatonna Hospital, has recently received her certification in infection control from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC).
As a certified infection control (CIC) professional, Schultz is internationally recognized as a professional in the infection control field. Schultz watches out for unusual trends in infection rates and investigates the causes for these trends within the hospital setting. If a significant cause is identified, Schultz will perform an investigation, start control measures, distribute information and train hospital health care staff to prevent and control future infections. The certification for infection control is valid for five years.
About Owatonna HospitalThe new Owatonna Hospital will be connected to the current Owatonna Clinic-Mayo Health System 26th Street location, off Interstate 35, creating a health care campus. The facility will be designed to create an environment for providing high quality, safe, patient-centered care for residents in the region. Owatonna Hospital and Allina Hospitals & Clinics are taking a leadership role to promote healthy eating and physical activity through their heart healthy living and obesity initiatives with an emphasis on childhood obesity. Over the next five years, Allina and Owatonna Hospital will be working with community organizations to improve nutrition and increase physical activity to decrease obesity and improve heart health.
