Crystal Ball Exceeds Expectations for Mercy & UnityCOON RAPIDS, Minn. 04/07/2006--At least 550 people partied in a pretend tropical paradise and contributed more than $165,000 for Mercy & Unity Hospitals on April 1 at the annual Crystal Ball. "Both Gary Alberts [hospital vice president] and I want to thank all of the people who supported the Crystal Ball," said Julie Gotham Nelson, executive director of the Mercy & Unity Hospitals Foundation. "Because of the many contributions of time, talent, and treasure, we were able to surpass all of our goals." Proceeds from this year's Crystal Ball will support Kenny Kids Rehabilitation Program at Mercy and the Women's and the Children’s Program at Unity. A highlight of the event was Joel Guptill, a 10-year-old Kenny Kids patient who has a neurological disorder that has affected his speech. Guptill received a standing ovation after thanking the crowd for its support of Kenny Kids.
