Allina Medical Clinic Breaks Ground on New Cottage Grove Clinic

COTTAGE GROVE, Minn. 10/31/2008--Cottage Grove city officials including city council members Fred Luden joined Allina executives and doctors at groundbreaking ceremonies Friday for a major expansion to the Allina Medical Clinic in Cottage Grove at 8611 W. Pt. Douglas Road South. The expansion is under construction and scheduled to be complete by spring next year.

The clinic expansion will provide much needed clinical space to serve the needs of the Cottage Grove community. The clinic will be expanded from 33 exam rooms to 63 exam rooms, add a treatment room and surgical procedure room and more. The overall interior of the clinic will also undergo renovation to provide a comfortable, attractive environment for patients and their families. The addition will add nearly 11,000 square feet of much needed space to the existing 26,500 square feet facility.

“Cottage Grove has a growing population and the Allina Medical Clinic expansion is exciting news,” said Cottage Grove city council member and Economic Development Authority president Fred Luden. “The clinic provides area residents with access to quality medical services close to home and establishes the link between patient, physician, and hospital resources. We greatly appreciate the quality care you provide.”

According to Tom Holets, president of Allina Medical Clinic, the expanded Cottage Grove clinic is designed to create a community centered delivery model that gives local residents access to full range of services and providers in their community. “We want to build a clinic in Cottage Grove that supports an environment conducive to the growth and expansion of the areas community needs.” he says. “We wouldn’t have been able to complete this project without the support and leadership of the community.”
