Cybex pledges nearly $75,000 to Owatonna Hospital’s Expanding the Dream capital campaign
Additional contributions push campaign over $3 million goal

OWATONNA, Minn. 11/14/2008--CYBEX International, a leading manufacturer of commercial and consumer exercise equipment, recently pledged an in-kind gift, valued at nearly $75,000, to Owatonna Hospital’s Expanding the Dream capital campaign. CYBEX will fully equip the rehabilitation area of the new Owatonna Hospital’s Center for Health & Wellness with the most advanced exercise equipment on the market.

Ed Kurzontkowski, senior vice president of manufacturing for CYBEX, walks Scott Palmer, executive director of the Owatonna Hospital Foundation, through how to use the CYBEX Chest Press exercise equipment for maximum benefit. CYBEX donated nearly $75,000 in-kind gifts to the new Owatonna Hospital’s Center for Health & Wellness.

This gift, combined with other recent large gifts from Truth Hardware and Wells Fargo, moves the campaign past its $3 million goal and marks the successful completion of this fundraising effort. The Owatonna Hospital Foundation will continue to raise funds to support enhancements to the healing environment, equipment upgrades and healthy living initiatives.

"We’re thrilled by this generous gift," says Scott Palmer, executive director of the Owatonna Hospital Foundation. "It will allow us to improve our healing environment by replacing our current equipment, some of which is nearly 15 years old." CYBEX will provide treadmills, Arc Trainers, exercise bikes and strength training equipment.

"As a fitness company, we’re honored to donate CYBEX equipment to the new Owatonna Hospital. We at CYBEX share their vision of the impact that preventative, healthy activities can make in peoples’ lives and how fitness can enhance the quality of those lives," said Ed Kurzontkowski, senior vice president of Manufacturing for CYBEX.

About the Expanding the Dream Campaign
The Expanding the Dream campaign is a community venture launched in 2007 to fund special features of the new hospital, which were identified as important during community forums and an online survey. These special features include the Owatonna Commons, an Indoor Walking Path, a Community Resource Center, a Professional Education Center, a Reflection Center and the Center for Health and Wellness.

These special features are being funded exclusively through philanthropic donations. One hundred percent of the donations to the Expanding the Dream campaign will be used to fund the special features.

Allina Hospitals & Clinics is fully funding the construction of the replacement hospital, which is expected to open in October 2009. The total value of the new not-for-profit hospital construction project is $51.6 million. “We believe that a proper fitness regime, tailored to any individual, leads to a healthier and a longer life, which is why we’re passionate about designing and manufacturing fitness equipment. We’re excited the new Owatonna Hospital, and the community, will benefit from this passion through this gesture,” said John Aglialoro, chair of the board and CEO of CYBEX International.

In addition to CYBEX, Truth, as well as a second in-kind donation from Viracon, several businesses and individuals have pledged major financial support. They include: Al and Cathy Annexstad; Jerry and Carol Deetz; Federated Insurance; Kennard and Jean Kaplan; Owatonna Clinic physicians and retired physicians who once practiced medicine in the area, Owatonna Foundation; Owatonna Hospital Board of Trustees; Riverland Community College; Viracon; Wenger Corporation; Wenger Foundation; and Expanding the Dream campaign leaders.
