New Ulm Medical Center welcomes family practice medical residentNEW ULM, Minn. 03/13/2008--The New Ulm Medical Center is hosting a family practice medical resident for a two month rotation in March and April. Michelle Wilkening, MD, is enrolled in the United Family Practice Residency program, St. Paul. Wilkening graduated from the University of Minnesota – Duluth medical school in 2006 and is a second year resident focusing on family practice. "I like family practice because of the variety of conditions and people you see every day," she said. "I enjoy treating people from very young all the way to the geriatric population." Wilkening grew up in the Twin Cities metro area, but said she prefers a smaller setting and plans to practice in a rural area. She is finding the experience at NUMC to be invaluable to those future plans. While at New Ulm Medical Center, Wilkening is working primarily with Scott Rysdahl, MD, family practice physician.
