The center offers an extensive lending library with easy, guided access to a
variety of resources. Books, videotapes, pamphlets and journal articles cover
a broad scope of concerns and issues including healing and treatment. There is also specific information about breast cancer
treatment, nutrition, personal stories of women with breast cancer, books for
spouses, children and friends, and coping and support information.

Lymphedema treatment program

The physical therapy department at Unity Hospital offers a therapeutic
program for the treatment of lymphedema available upon physician referral. Treatment
includes education, exercise, compression bandaging and lymphatic massage. To

Clinical trials and research
Mercy participates in National Cancer Institute sponsored
clinical trials for prevention, treatment and symptom management. Ask your oncologist
if clinical trials are an option for you. If you are eligible, your oncologist
will contact the oncology research nurses who will meet with you and explain
what it means to participate in a clinical trial.
