50 hour minimum required. Fifty hours is equivalent to a 6-month time commitment.
Shifts are 3-4 hours every other week.

Attend an orientation. (Parents welcome to attend, but not required.)
Mantoux Test (free of charge)
MMR Immunization Documentation
Chicken Pox Immune Status
Fill out a Criminal Background Study Form as mandated by the Vulnerable
Adult Act.
HIPAA training (provided at orientation).
VolunTEENS must wear a uniform. Information on purchasing the uniform will
be provided at orientation.
Attend a service area training following placement.
Service Areas
Merci Boutique & Flowers - Come and volunteer in our beautiful gift shop! Four hour shifts available. Open 7 days per week. Always working with someone. Standing and walking required. VolunTEENS will be trained to run a cash register.
Merci Cafe' Latte - Fun and friendly atmosphere. Features upscale coffees, soups and sandwiches. Weekday and weekend shifts available. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Nursing Stations - Assist nursing staff and run errands. Opportunity to gain experience working with patient care staff.
Information Desk (minimum age requirement 16 years old) - A team of two volunteers sit at the desk in our east lobby greeting everyone and assisting patients and visitors with information and directions as needed. A warm and friendly voice is needed to make a great impression for all incoming calls. Volunteers aren't required to have all the answers, just a customer-first commitment to service. Fast paced, with some computer work, this vital area is staffed seven days a week with the first shift starting at 7 am. Computer training is provided but previous computer experience a plus!
Messenger or Messenger Dispatcher (minimum are requirement 16 years old) - A team of two volunteers welcome everyone as they enter our hospital through the west entrance. Responsibilities include using the computer to provide patient room information to visitors. Deliveries and escorting visitors to destinations are a major part of duties. Walking and some sitting required. Very pleasant personality required, must have a smile in your voice. Computer training is provided but previous computer experience a plus! Three shifts per day, seven day a week.
Surgical Waiting (minimum age requirement 16 years old) - Assist
staff with patients' families while they are in the waiting room. Many duties, pleasant personality. Available weekdays.

Please report to the Information Desk the day of the orientation. Call 763-236-8011 to register for the orientation time you will be attending. A completed and signed VolunTEEN application must be on file in the Volunteer Office to register
and attend an orientation.
