North Metro Growing Through Loss©
The North Metro Grief Support Coalition offers a six-week series for individuals to obtain information and support for a variety of loss and grief issues, such as death of a spouse, parent, child, sibling, friend or pregnancy loss, suicide, divorce or separation, loss of job. Each session is complete in itself. You are invited to attend one or all of the sessions. Each 6 week series is rotated between each of the sponsoring churches. Current members include: Catholic Church of St. Paul-Ham Lake, Epiphany Catholic Church-Coon Rapids, Faith Community Nurse Program-Mercy and Unity Hospitals, Faith Lutheran Church-Coon Rapids, First Congregational/UCC-Anoka, Heartland Home Healthcare and Hospice, New Life Lutheran Church-Oak Grove, Peace Lutheran Church-Coon Rapids, Riverdale Assembly of God Church-Andover, Seventh Day Adventist Church-Andover, United Methodist Church-Anoka, Zion Lutheran Church-Anoka.
When:October 8, 2009 through November 12, 2009 at First Congregational Church, 1923 South 3rd Avenue, Anoka. Sessions will be held on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m with registration beginning at 6:45 p.m. Each session opens with a prayer. A speaker will present from 7 to 7:45 p.m. followed by hospitality from 7:45 to 8:00. Small group sessions go from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. For directions to the church you may contact the First Congregational Church directly at (763) 421-3375.
Where: Some of the communities we serve are Andover, Anoka, Blaine, Cedar, Coon Rapids, East Bethel, Ham Lake, Oak Grove, and Spring Lake Park.
Cost: Free. Also, free childcare is available. to obtain childcare you must call 763-413-2985 no later than the Monday prior to each session with your name and the number of children and their ages.

Adult education and support
The West Suburban Grief Coalition sponsors education and support groups for grieving adults. The program is the combined effort of 16 west suburban area churches and intended to help adults suffering from the loss of a loved one. Each week there are learning, healing and growing experiences offered through professional speakers, videos and breakout sessions. Volunteers trained in support group facilitation lead breakout sessions that consist of spouse, child, parent, sibling and other significant deaths. Individuals may attend the group at any time by coming to a meeting or by contacting grief coordinators.
Where: St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church, 17205 County Road 6, Plymouth, MN 55447 (Other churches involved include churches in Chanhassen, Delano, Excelsior, Long Lake, Maple Grove, Orono and Plymouth.)
When: Meeting structure includes a 4 to 4:30 p.m. social time, 4:30 to 5 p.m. devotional and speaker, and 5 to 6:00 p.m. individual break out groups.

Coon Rapids GRACE Support Group
Missing GRACE Foundation provides support groups and resources for families who have experienced a loss due to ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth, sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and other causes. Missing GRACE Foundation offers online support groups, phone support, GRACE Care Baskets, hospital and home visits and three Minnesota support groups located in Maple Grove and Coon Rapids. Missing GRACE Foundation is a non-profit based in Minnesota that works with local, national and international groups to provide a network of resources for grieving parents across the globe. Mercy Hospital hosts grief support programs for children, preschool age to teens, as well as adults. Various groups offer comfort following suicide, violent death or loss of a child.
