Allina Summer Nursing Student Internship: Program specifics

Allina Hospitals & Clinics offers a summer internship to students who will graduate from RN nursing degree programs within one year.

• The program is from June 7 to August 13, 2010.
• Locations include Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Allina Medical Clinic, Buffalo Hospital, Cambridge Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, New Ulm Medical Center, Owatonna Hospital, River Falls Area Hospital, St. Francis Regional Medical Center, United Hospital, and Unity Hospital.
• This is an unpaid internship for 24 hours per week and students must be available to work all shifts, including weekends. Exact hours and shift rotation depends on the designated preceptor's schedule.
• Out-of-state students may be required to register for the Internship course with a Minnesota school. In-state students should take the course through the school they attend.

RN preceptors

Working alongside a registered nurse preceptor, each intern gains the practical experience and training needed to advance his or her career.

Clinical experiences

Every effort is made to place interns in clinical settings that match their career goals.

• Internship are available in a variety of areas, for example: behavioral health, birth center, cardiovascular care, emergency department, intensive care, medical/surgical, oncology, orthopedics, neuroscience, and rehabilitation.
• Interns also have opportunities to shadow in other areas of clinical interest for one to two days.
