Mature Women Services
Urinary Incontinence
Urinary incontinence affects people in all age groups, but an overwhelming number are mature women. Unfortunately, many women are reluctant to discuss incontinence with
their health care provider and believe they must live with it as a life-long problem. Specially-trained physical therapists at Sister Kenny Sports & Physical Therapy Center work collaboratively with the WomenCare program to help women decrease and possibly eliminate incontinence. Studies show that more than 80 percent of patients show improvement in bladder control with physical therapy intervention. A physician’s referral is needed for this service. Falls Prevention
As women age, they may experience balance difficulties and have an increased incidence of falls. Sister KennyŽ Rehabilitation Institute’s Fall Prevention Services can help to identify underlying causes for falls and initiate an action plan to improve balance, decrease the risk of falls, and prevent the loss of independence. A physician’s referral is needed for this service. |

The increased incidence of cancer in women and new discoveries surrounding menopause have led to an expansion of gynecological services to better meet the needs of mature women.
