Seventh Annual Red Ribbon RideJuly 16-19The Red Ribbon Ride is a four day, nearly 300 mile bike ride to raise money for Minnesota AIDS service organizations, including Park House. Individuals can participate by riding or being a volunteer crew member. Riders and volunteers travel together through beautiful southern Minnesota. For further information on the 2009 Red Ribbon Ride go to www.redribbonride.org. Camp BenedictAugust 24 – 28Camp Benedict is a week-long summer camp for families and individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. It is operated by Lutheran Social Services and located at Camp Knutson in Crosslake, MN (just 30 miles north of Brainerd). The camp helps individuals learn to live with HIV/AIDS, meet others affected by the disease and have fun. Professional staff are available for medical care and emotional support. Age appropriate education and support sessions accommodate adults and children separately. Fun recreational activities are planned for all, and massage, Reiki and acupuncture are offered. Food and lodging are provided, and transportation assistance is provided to and from camp. Priority is given to those who live in greater Minnesota and who attend the camp for the first time.
