The orthopaedic unit is located on the seventh floor of Abbott Northwestern's Heart Hospital. The unit was designed with input from physicians, nurses, staff, families and patients to create a healing environment around a patient-centered model of care.
This 36-bed unit offers patients and visitors the following features:
36 private rooms designed to accommodate orthopaedic patient needs, including ceiling lifts and state of the art beds
designated space for Sister KennyŽ Rehabilitation Institute therapies
patient/family atrium with a beautiful view, water feature, seating areas, coffee maker and a computer with internet access
patient/family solarium with a fireplace, beautiful view, seating areas, coffee maker, microwave, large refrigerator and more
TV/VCR/DVD, safe, patient/family refrigerator and separate family area in each room.
sleeping space for one designated guest, if needed
Surgical Services
Abbott Northwestern's Surgical Services Department has 33 operating rooms and more than 250 pre- and post-surgical staff. This is one of the largest and most advanced surgical departments in the area. Surgery patients are cared for by teams of highly specialized physicians and nurses. These caregivers have access to the most advanced tools modern technology has to offer.
