During the conference you will be presented with research and clinical experience demonstrating the use of Chinese Medicine in the western clinical setting. We will discuss the unique demands and challenges of working within integrative clinics and hospital environments and you will be given information that will help you apply these therapies within your own clinical setting.

At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the vision and mission of the institute and the challenges of introducing the language and concepts of Chinese medicine in the hospital setting.
  • Discuss the history and foundations of Qi Gong as both an exercise and healing modality.
  • Explain its roots in Taoist philosophy, it’s clinical applications and modern research efforts to quantify it’s effects.
  • Understand the current state of research into the efficacy of acupuncture and discuss it’s use in the western clinical and acute care settings.
  • Summarize the five year study that was done on the use of acupuncture and Chinese medicine to treat asthma in children in both the acute care setting and in outpatient clinics.
  • List the findings on the use of acupuncture in an integrative outpatient setting to treat pain conditions.
  • Discuss the use of imaging techniques in research to determine the effects of acupuncture.
