The
physician and staff expertise, along with state-of-the-art equipment, lets staff
members tailor each patient’s treatment to provide the best possible care.
Radiation oncologist
Radiation oncologists have training in cancer and radiation therapies. They prescribe
the amount and type of treatment for each patient. Radiation oncologists oversee
the care of the patient and work closely with other physicians and members of
the team.
Medical radiation physicists
Medical radiation physicists ensure the equipment works properly and delivers
the right amount of radiation. They work with the radiation oncologists to develop
and direct quality programs for the radiation procedures and equipment.
Registered radiation therapists
Registered radiation therapists prepare the patient for the procedure and operate
the equipment that delivers the radiation. They are a good resource for treatment
and equipment questions.
Radiation oncology nurses
Radiation oncology nurses assist radiation oncologists in educating patients about
treatment options. They provide direct care to patients to monitor their daily
progress and any side effects that may occur.
Dosimetrists
Dosimetrists develop treatment plans with the radiation oncologist and medical
radiation physicists to ensure the tumor receives the appropriate amount of radiation.
They fine-tune the number and length of treatments.
Dietitians
Dietitians monitor patients’ diets and provide food and supplement recommendations
to ensure proper nutrition during treatment.
