Prostate Cancer Program
One of the most common treatments for prostate cancer involves surgical removal of the prostate gland, known as a radical prostatectomy. If your doctor recommends surgery to treat your prostate cancer, you may be candidate for a new, less invasive approach called the robotic prostatectomy using the da Vinci® Surgical System.
The da Vinci Surgical System provides surgeons with an alternate to both traditional open surgery and conventional laparoscopy. The da Vinci System enables surgeons to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions and allows a surgeon greater visualization, enhanced dexterity, precision and control.
Several physicians that work with the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute Prostate Cancer Program perform robotic prostatectomy. To find out if you are a candidate for this procedure contact the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute Cancer Clinic at 612-863-0200 for a consult.
