Gynecologic Oncology
The gynecologic oncology services of the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute provide comprehensive gynecologic care for women with cervical, ovarian and uterine cancers, as well as less common cancers.
The Gyn/Oncology services team includes gynecologic oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists and oncology nurses.
Gyn/Oncology Physicians
Gynecologic oncologists are specialists in the treatment and management of gynecologic malignancies. Women who have gynecologic concerns are treated by these physicians for their preoperative, surgical and post-operative care. Patients benefit from their expertise and the consistency of one specialist coordinating their care.

Each of the physicians is board certified in Obstetrics/Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology and trained to perform laser, laparascopic, and radical pelvic surgery.
Gynecologic oncologists also administer chemotherapy and manage combinations of therapy that may include chemotherapy with radiation therapy.
Physician Team
The physician specialists involved with the diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic cancer participate in monthly treatment planning conferences.
During these conferences, the physicians review recent cases to improve the consistency and quality of care.

Genetic Counseling
The genetic counselor at the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute provides specialized risk assessment and information on genetic testing and prevention for individuals and families concerned about their personal or family history of cancer.
Complementary Therapies
Complementary therapies - including healing coach services, massage, acupuncture and therapeutic touch- are offered to all patients at the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute through Abbott Northwestern Hospital’s Institute for Health and Healing.
Clinical Research
