Why we need support

Allina Home & Community Services:

  • provides many services to patients and families that are not covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or other private insurers;
  • serves over 4,000 patients every year in the Twin Cities and 28 surrounding counties throughout Minnesota;
  • provides more than 250 grants every year to patients and families experiencing financial hardship;
  • serves uninsured or underinsured patients and families;
  • has over 350 trained volunteers actively supporting patient and their families;
  • relies on charitable contributions from families and friends to continue to serve those in need.

Fundraising initiatives

Unrestricted support - provides funding for vital needs that arise during the year. Allina Home Care, Hospice & Palliative Care Foundation currently needs unrestricted gifts to help pay for patient care and safety equipment such as pulse oximeters, ultrasound's, and transfer boards.

Restricted support - provides funding for special programs such as massage and music therapy, bereavement support groups and retreats, and the TLC Fund. The TLC Fund was created in 2002 to assist Allina Home Care, Hospice & Palliative Care patients who are facing financial hardship.

Major gifts/special projects - funding to help increase unrestricted support, to endow services that will always need charitable support, and to ensure the long term financial stability of Allina.

Allina Hospice wish list

100 bathroom scales - $30 each

Patients with congestive heart failure need to watch their weight to not only regulate their diet, but also their medication. The simple use of a scale decreases the rate of readmission to hospitals.

100 printers - $100 each

Printers that connect to laptop computers would help nurses and social workers provide educational materials and information on medications to patients they visit in the home.

4 ultrasound machines - $1,200 each

Ultrasound machines provide soothing massages for our patients and aid in pain management.

2 LCD projectors - $1,500 each

LCD projectors are used in staff meetings to help keep all members of a multidisciplinary team updated about the care of their patients. These projects can also be used to increase community awareness regarding the importance of comprehensive and compassionate home, hospice and palliative care.

100 ergo slide and belts - $40 each

Ergo slides and belts are ergonomically designed aids that are sued to aid in the transportation of the patient within their home.
