Wash your hands

What’s the simplest, cheapest way to keep from spreading germs? Wash your hands.

Skin-to-skin contact is the most common way that people give germs to each other. Washing off the germs with soap and water protects you and those around you from colds (upper respiratory infections), the flu (influenza) and other illnesses.

Always wash your hands…

  • after you have been to the bathroom or changed a soiled diaper
  • after you cough, sneeze or blow your nose
  • before you prepare or eat food
