Pregnancy loss: Support groups

Grieving is painful for everyone. But the death of a baby presents a special grief.

If your baby has died, there are people who understand your intense feelings of loss and emptiness -- other parents who have lost babies. You may find it comforting and helpful to talk to others who have shared similar experiences.

Pregnancy and infant loss support groups help parents whose children have died through ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death. They offer a safe place to share feelings, reflect on losses, focus on the future, and celebrate accomplishments. Such groups of parents are often led by a specially-trained nurse, chaplain or social worker.

You may come with your partner or alone. There is usually no cost.
