Health care providers differ in how to report that you are in labor. Your health care provider may want you to call the office any time of the day or night. Or, you may be asked to go to the hospital and have the hospital call when you are admitted.
Check with your health care provider about when you should call. Find out how far apart your contractions should be before you call or go to the hospital. If you call and your health care provider doesn’t return your call within 30 minutes, call your hospital birth center. The birth center staff will help you decide what you should do.
You can always call your health care provider or hospital birth center whenever you think there is a problem.
