The day before and the morning of your knee replacement surgery
The day before your surgery
Report any changes in your physical condition (sore throat, cold, fever, dental problem, urinating problem) or skin condition (rash, abrasions, etc.) to your doctor because such a problem may require postponing your surgery.
If you have questions about your surgery, ask a member of your health care team.
After midnight
Do not eat solid foods. Do not drink any liquids — even water — after midnight. Your surgery may be delayed or canceled if you don't follow this instruction.
The morning of surgery
Take your morning medicines as directed with a small sip of water. Do not drink or eat anything else unless told to do so by your doctor.
