Special interests: Dr. Ikramuddin has specialized in weight loss surgery since finishing one of the first laparoscopic weight loss surgery fellowships in 1998. He has played a pivotal role in developing and teaching the techniques currently used in laparoscopic gastric bypass. His clinical interests include LAP-Band® surgery, laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, and laparoscopic duodenal switch. He is especially focused on the role of type 2 diabetes resolution after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
