Special interests: Trond A. Stockenstrom, MD, is a native of St.Paul and graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in 1992. After completing his internship at San Diego Naval Hospital he underwent training in Aerospace Medicine at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida. He was designated a US Naval Flight Surgeon and assigned to Marine Corps F/A-18 squadron 533, Beaufort, South Carolina. In 1995, Lieutenant Commander Stockenstrom was deployed to Europe in conjunction with Operation Deny Flight, Bosnia-Herzegovina. He was transferred to National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland where he successfully completed rigorous specialty training in ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery.

Stockenstrom subsequently served as department head and ophthalmic surgeon at Great Lakes Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, Illinois. He also participated in residency teaching, holding a faculty appointment at Northwestern Medical School, Chicago, Illinois. In the fall of 2001, he completed additional training in oculoplastics at St Erik’s Eye Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden.
