MyChart: Helping you manage your diabetes
MyChart, a new Web-based service by Allina Hospitals & Clinics, can help you manage your diabetes. The electronic tool allows you to access portions of your medical record and make clinic appointments online – anytime, anywhere.
MyChart tools
MyChart offers many ways to help you manage your diabetes and your health care in general:
- Make appointments any time of the day or night, from any computer with Web access. You can schedule and confirm an appointment with your Allina Medical Clinic health care provider without making a phone call.
- Keep track of your health. You can view up-to-date information about your allergies, immunizations, diagnosed health issues, and your medicines.
- See lab reports as soon as your doctor has reviewed them – without waiting for the mail or playing phone tag.
Tracking test results is important to good diabetes management, according to Mary Frederick, RN, diabetes program manager with Allina Medical Clinic. That's why she calls the ability to see lab results on MyChart an advantage for people with diabetes.
"When you look up your lab results, you can also see messages from your doctor about any treatment changes needed or what the next steps should be for managing your diabetes," she says.
