Power by the Hour fruit smoothie

This delicious and nutritious snack comes courtesy of Power by the Hour™, Allina's nutrition education and physical fitness program for elementary age students.

Ingredients

1 banana, peeled
1/2 cup of strawberries, fresh or frozen (You can also use blueberries, blackberries or raspberries.*)
1 cup low-fat milk (You can also try orange juice.*)
1/2 cup plain low-fat yogurt (You can also try flavored, low-fat yogurt.*)
1 cup ice cubes

* Option not included in nutrition facts.


Directions

Kids, have an adult help you follow the steps below to create your own concoction.

  1. Put all ingredients in a blender.
  2. Make sure the blender is covered, then blend on high for 15 to 30 seconds.
  3. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy.
